In Hostage, Suranne portrays British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton, who is left with an agonising dilemma when her spouse Dr Alex Anderson (portrayed by Ashley Thomas) is abducted and his kidnappers demand she step down from office.
Dalton must attempt to decide between her loved ones and her nation, all whilst hosting a visit from French President Vivienne Toussaint (Julie Delpy), who is simultaneously being blackmailed. The pair must join forces to uncover the truth before it's too late.

Netflix’s upcoming miniseries Hostage is a gripping British political thriller set to premiere on August 21, 2025. The limited series has five episodes and was created and written by Matt Charman. Isabelle Sieb and Amy Neil are in charge of directing them. Julie Delpy and Suranne Jones, who play made-up French President Vivienne Toussaint and British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton, are in charge of the cast.
The show was filmed mostly in the UK, with a number of scenes taking place in and around London. London’s government buildings, city streets—and official interiors made for a natural setting for scenes with the Prime Minister and other British officials because the show was based on British politics
The set for 10 Downing Street was built from scratch on a disused airfield, with the crew knowing they wouldn't be able to film at the actual location- and that is where Soul Set Construction Magic began!
We thrive on the challenges that external sets provide, our team battled the elements, with wind and rain, but over coming this makes seeing the finished product on screen even better.
